6A State Second Round Playoffs

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah-Luke West posted 16 points and the No. 3 Bingham Miners routed No. 14 Riverton 72-52 in the second round of the 6A state playoffs Friday. Beckam Rees led the Silverwolves in the loss with a game-high 18 points. Bingham next faces No. 6 Mountain Ridge Wednesday at 2:30 pm in the state quarterfinals at the Huntsman Center on the campus of the University of Utah.

HERRIMAN, Utah-Spencer Dow led the way with 15 points and the No. 6 Mountain Ridge Sentinels stormed past No. 11 Syracuse 63-52 Friday in the second round of the 6A state playoffs. Spencer Dow led the Titans in the loss with 15 points.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah-Malik Sika netted 17 points and the No. 1 Westlake Thunder routed No. 17 Cedar Valley 78-48 Friday in the second round of the 6A state playoffs. Carson Stocking led the Aviators in the loss with 12 points. Westlake next faces No. 8 Lone Peak Wednesday at 11:10 am in the state quarterfinals at the Huntsman Center.

HIGHLAND, Utah-Saxon Young stepped up with 21 points and No. 8 Lone Peak routed No. 9 Corner Canyon 66-51 in the second round of the 6A state playoffs Friday. Mo Brown led the Chargers in defeat with 14 points.

LEHI, Utah-Carlo Mulford posted 19 points and the No. 10 Herriman Mustangs upset No. 7 Skyridge 68-51 Friday in the second round of the 6A state playoffs. Joel Gardner led the Falcons in the loss with 19 points. The Mustangs next face No. 2 American Fork Wednesday at 12:50 pm in the state quarterfinals at the University of Utah.

AMERICAN FORK, Utah-Jax Clark stepped up with 17 points and the No. 2 American Fork Cavemen pounded No. 15 Copper Hills 67-35 in the second round of the 6A state playoffs Friday. Isaiah Reiser led the Grizzlies with 16 points in the loss.

KAYSVILLE, Utah-Malakai Tobler led the way with 13 points and the No. 12 Farmington Phoenix edged No. 5 Davis 53-50 Friday in the second round of the 6A state playoffs. Tradon Bessinger’s 18 points and 7 rebounds led the Darts in the loss. Farmington next faces No. 13 Lehi Wednesday at 9:30 am in the state quarterfinals at the University of Utah.

LAYTON, Utah-Tuk Howe posted 20 points and 5 rebounds and No. 13 Lehi upset No. 4 Layton 51-47 in the second round of the 6A state playoffs Friday. Karter Miller led the Lancers with 18 points in the loss.

5A State Playoffs Second Round

HEBER CITY, Utah-JJ Serre netted 19 points and the No. 4 Wasatch Wasps bested No. 13 Salem Hills 47-41 Friday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs at The Nest. Elijah Gasser led the Skyhawks in defeat with 12 points. The Wasps next face No. 12 Pleasant Grove Monday at 9:30 am in the state quarterfinals at The Huntsman Center.

OREM, Utah-Jaxon Brown posted 20 points and the No. 12 Pleasant Grove Vikings edged No. 5 Orem 55-54 in the second round of the state playoffs Friday. Aisa Galea’i scored 20 points in the loss for the Tigers.  

HOLLADAY, Utah-Gavin Lowe stepped up with 20 points and the No. 2 Olympus Titans routed No. 18 West 68-53 Friday in the second round of the state playoffs. Elijah Albertson’s 19 points and 7 assists led the Panthers in defeat. Olympus next faces No. 7 Springville Monday at 12:50 pm in the state quarterfinals at the Huntsman Center.

SPRINGVILLE, Utah-Jamyn Sondrup posted 22 points and the No. 7 Springville Red Devils routed No. 10 Roy 82-63 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Friday in our KIXR/talkofutahcounty.com Game of the Week. Jesse Jones led the Royals with 23 points and 5 rebounds in the loss. 

SALT LAKE CITY-Isaiah Drisdom posted 18 points and the No. 3 Highland Rams surged past No. 19 Viewmont 70-60 Friday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Adam Henderson led the Vikings with 19 points and 7 rebounds in defeat. Highland next faces No. 11 Woods Cross Monday at 2:30 pm in the state quarterfinals at the Huntsman Center. 

MAGNA, Utah-Elliott Bendinger netted 20 points and the No. 11 Woods Cross Wildcats bested No. 6 Cyprus 72-59 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Friday. Alen Hadzialijagic led the Pirates in defeat with a game-high 24 points. 

BOUNTIFUL, Utah-Lincoln Smith led the way with 21 points and the No. 8 Bountiful RedHawks stonewalled No. 9 Payson 65-50 Friday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Austin Staheli led the Lions with 17 points in the loss. Bountiful next faces No. 17 Alta Monday at 11:10 am in the state quarterfinals at the University of Utah. 

PROVO, Utah-Krew Eckman posted 28 points and No. 17 Alta stunned No. 1 Timpview 65-55 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Friday. Dean Rueckert led the Thunderbirds in defeat with 22 points.

4A State Semfinals @ Weber State University

OGDEN, Utah-Caden Tollestrup stepped up with 17 points and No. 1 Provo downed No. 5 Dixie 50-46 Friday in the 4A state semifinals at the Dee Events Center on the campus of Weber State University. Asher Spence led the Flyers with 25 points in defeat. The Bulldogs next face No. 6 Hurricane Saturday at 3:30 pm for the 4A state championship at the Dee Events Center.

OGDEN, Utah-Brigham Kemp posted 20 points and the No. 6 Hurricane Tigers bested No. 10 Timpanogos 65-60 in the 4A state semifinals Friday at the Dee Events Center. Jaxen McCuistion led the Timberwolves in the loss with 32 points.

3A State Semifinals @ Southern Utah University

CEDAR CITY, Utah-James Matsen’s 16 points led the way and the No. 3 American Heritage Patriots downed No. 2 Richfield 44-40 Friday in the 3A state semifinals at the America First Event Center. Jorgen Southwick led the Wildcats in the loss with 15 points. The Patriots will play No. 1 Morgan Saturday at 7:00 pm for the 3A state championship game at the America First Event Center.

4A State Semifinals @ Weber State University

OGDEN, Utah-Addison Winters posted 15 points and the No. 1 Dixie Flyers downed No. 4 Desert Hills 60-55 in the 4A state semifinals Friday at the Dee Events Center on the campus of Weber State University. Mylee Villanueva led the Thunder in defeat with 15 points. Dixie next faces No. 2 Green Canyon Saturday at 1:00 pm in the 4A state championship at the Dee Events Center.

OGDEN, Utah-Mya Hinds netted 22 points and 9 rebounds and the No. 2 Green Canyon Wolves gashed No. 3 Pine View 54-48 Friday at the Dee Events Center in the 4A state semifinals. Reese Gustin posted 19 points in the loss for the Panthers.
