6A First Round Playoffs

PLEASANT VIEW, Utah-Carson Stocking netted 20 points and 5 rebounds and the No. 17 Cedar Valley Aviators clipped No. 16 Weber 50-47 in the first round of the 6A state playoffs Wednesday. Jake Thomas led the Warriors in the loss with 14 points. Cedar Valley next visits No. 1 Westlake Friday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.

5A State Playoffs First Round

SALEM, Utah-Elijah Gasser led the way with 15 points and the No. 13 Salem Hills Skyhawks soared past No. 20 Box Elder 67-58 in the first round of the 5A state playfofs Wednesday. Krew Peterson and Ryan Jenson scored 11 points apiece in the loss for the Bees. Salem Hills next visits No. 4 Wasatch Friday at 7:00 pm at The Nest in the second round of the state playoffs. 

WOODS CROSS, Utah-Bryson Watson netted 20 points and the No. 11 Woods Cross Wildcats routed No. 22 Northridge 67-49 Wednesday in the first round of the 5A state playoffs. Theo Roach led the Knights in the loss with 17 points. Woods Cross next visits No. 6 Cyprus Friday in the second round of the state playoffs at 7:00 pm. 

TAYLOR, Utah-Carson Tovey posted 23 points and 9 assists and the No. 19 Viewmont Vikings surged past No. 14 West Field 59-51 in the first round of the 5A state playoffs Wednesday. Jaden Fowers led the Longhorns in the loss with 19 points. Viewmont next visits No. 3 Highland Friday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs. 

MIDVALE, Utah-Krew Eckman’s 17 points led the way and the No. 17 Alta Hawks upset No. 16 Hillcrest 60-48 Wednesday in the first round of the 5A state playoffs. Anthony Burris led the Huskies with 13 points in the loss. Alta next visits No. 1 Timpview in the second round of the state playoffs Friday at 7:00 pm. 

SPANISH FORK, Utah-Elijah Albertson recorded 19 points and the No. 18 West Panthers upset No. 15 Maple Mountain 74-62 in the first round of the 5A state playoffs Wednesday. Solomon Krommenhoek’s game-high 20 points led the Golden Eagles in the loss. West next visits No. 2 Olympus Friday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs. 

ROY, Utah-Boston Greenhalgh stepped up with 28 points and No. 10 Roy surged past No. 23 Clearfield 69-59 Wednesday in the first round of the 5A state playoffs. Jack Galvan led the Falcons in the loss with 23 points. Roy next visits No. 7 Springville Friday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.  This will be our KIXR/talkofutahcounty.com Game of the Week.

PLEASANT GROVE, Utah-Preston White netted 13 points and the No. 12 Pleasant Grove Vikings smacked No. 21 Fremont 58-40 in the first round of the 5A state playoffs Wednesday. Zach Hancock’s 20 points led the Silverwolves in the loss. Pleasant Grove next visits No. 5 Orem in the second round of the state playoffs Friday at 7:00 pm. 

PAYSON, Utah-Blake Jenson led the way with 18 points and the No. 9 Payson Lions routed No. 24 West Jordan 79-41 Wednesday in the first round of the 5A state playoffs. Ahmad Mullahkhul led the Jaguars in the loss with 13 points. Payson next visits No. 8 Bountiful in the second round of the state playoffs Friday at 7:00 pm. 

4A State Quarterfinals @ Weber State University

OGDEN, Utah-Callen Tollestrup led the way with 33 points and 11 rebounds and No. 1 Provo got past No. 8 Sky View 71-66 Wednesday in the 4A state quarterfinals at the Dee Events Center on the campus of Weber State University. Zach Oxborrow led the Bobcats in the loss with 26 points. Provo next faces No. 1 Dixie Friday at 5:50 pm at the Dee Events Center in the 4A state semifinals.

OGDEN, Utah-Collin Simmons posted 22 points and the No. 5 Dixie Flyers edged No. 13 Mountain View 51-49 in the 4A state quarterfinals at the Dee Events Center Wednesday. Joshua Hair led the Bruins in defeat with 12 points.

OGDEN, Utah-Jaxen McCuistion netted 13 points and 8 rebounds and the No. 10 Timpanogos Timberwolves upset No. 2 Pine View 49-42 Wednesday at the Dee Events Center in the 4A state quarterfinals. Cooper Ranson led the Panthers in the loss with 17 points. Timpanogos next meets No. 6 Hurricane Friday at 7:00 pm in the 4A state semifinals at the Dee Events Center.

OGDEN, Utah-Brigham Kemp recorded 20 points, 7 assists, 6 steals and 6 rebounds and the No. 6 Hurricane Tigers waxed No. 3 Crimson Cliffs 60-49 at the Dee Events Center Wednesday in the 4A state quarterfinals. Travis Murdock led the Mustangs with 14 points in the loss.

Girls Basketball

4A State Quarterfinals @ Weber State University

OGDEN, Utah-Kalea Schlenker netted 10 points and the No. 3 Pine View Panthers overpowered No. 6 Mountain Crest 38-26 Wednesday in the 4A state quarterfinals at the Dee Events Center. Emersyn Brown’s game-high 13 points led the Mustangs in the loss. The Panthers next face No. 2 Green Canyon Friday at 4:10 pm in the state semifinals at the Dee Events Center.

OGDEN, Utah-Talyssa Nelson’s 22 points led the way and No. 2 Green Canyon got past No. 7 Ridgeline 54-50 in overtime in the 4A state quarterfinals Wednesday at the Dee Events Center. Abby Munford’s 16 points and 9 rebounds led the Riverhawks in the loss.

OGDEN, Utah-Addison Winters posted 18 points and the No. 1 Dixie Flyers bested No. 8 Provo 55-45 Wednesday at the Dee Events Center in the 4A state quarterfinals. Sage Yenchik and Mia Martinez scored 12 points apiece in the loss for the Bulldogs. Dixie next faces No. 4 Desert Hills Friday at 2:30 pm in the state semifinals.

OGDEN, Utah-Tess Peterson and Emeli Langi stepped up with 16 points apiece and the No. 4 Desert Hills Thunder got past No. 5 Snow Canyon 58-53 in the 4A state quarterfinals Wednesday at the Dee Events Center. Falynn Randall’s 15 points and 6 rebounds led the way in the loss for the Warriors.
